SANTA CLARA, CA — Vantage Data Centers has finalized its acquisition of Canada-based 4Degrees Colocation from Videotron Ltd., a Quebecor Media Inc. (QMI) subsidiary, for approximately $200 million USD ($259 million CAD).
The acquisition of 4Degrees expands Vantage’s coast-to-coast presence in North America, which now numbers six markets, adding campuses in Montréal and Québec City to their existing data center campuses in Santa Clara, CA; Northern Virginia; Phoenix; and Quincy, Washington. The 4Degrees data centers bring Vantage’s total number of operational facilities to nine and total number of data centers under development to five.
“Canada is an extremely attractive market for hyperscale, cloud and enterprise customers,” said Sureel Choksi, President and Chief Executive Officer of Vantage Data Centers. “Our acquisition of 4Degrees drastically decreases our time to market and increases our ability to provide the premier service and space that our clients desire.”
Vantage will immediately start expansion projects in both markets to accelerate 4Degrees Colocation’s original plans to bring total capacity up to 31 megawatts. The company also plans to hire additional staff in both Canadian markets to support its expansions.
Maxime Guévin, a leader in the construction, sales and management of data centers, has been named vice president and general manager of Vantage Canada, after serving as the general manager of 4Degrees Colocation for four years.
“The 4Degrees team has been in lockstep with Vantage throughout the closing process,” said Guévin. “Our cohesive team is prioritizing the creation and management of superior data center facilities across North America to support some of the world’s top brands.”
