E-commerce isn’t going anywhere, while new technological and economic trends are mixing up the dynamics of the space. That’s why CAPRE convened a panel titled “Industrial Next Generation: Ramifications of the Need to be Proximite to the Consumer in E-Commerce and Impact on Infrastructure, Employment, Transportation” at its Industrial Real Estate Revolution in Jersey City, which included five leading industry executives talking about the next chapter in the industrial story. “Let’s talk about Amazon,” began CEO & Founder of CAPRE, Brian Klebash, who moderated the session in lieu of a speaker who called in sick. “How do you approach a giant like Amazon that’s driving so much economic activity? Is it something you think about on a daily basis?” “It’s not so much a question of approaching Amazon, it’s a question of when they’re going to approach you,” replied David Greek, Director of Acquisitions at Greek Development. “Earlier this year they had 17 active products in New Jersey. Basically every building that was up but was not currently occupied, Amazon came in [and filled it]. That was a range of sizes, from 100,000 feet all the way up to 800,000 feet.
