Q&A with Vantage Data Centers: Josh Buis Talks European Expansion, 2020 Strategy

CAPRE: Thanks for chatting with us Josh. We're excited to hear the latest from Vantage. Tell us,what is Vantage’s strategy as we head into 2020? Buis: If you look at where Vantage has come from, as of 2-3 years ago, we were a regional data center provider in Santa Clara and Quincy, WA. If you fast-forward to today, we now have campuses in Montréal and Québec City, Canada, as well as Northern Virginia. We are expanding in each North American market, including a planned development in Phoenix. All of our expansions are based on customer demand, and that’s why we decided to enter Europe. We’re focused on hyperscalers, cloud providers and large enterprises. We’re in constant dialogue with them, and we heard loud and clear that they need to be in Europe . . . and that’s where we’re headed. CAPRE: Why the European market and why now? Buis: We focus on our customers. We want to meet their requirements, and Europe is simply a continuation of our success in North America. The growth we saw in hyperscale and wholesale users in North America is maybe five to seven years ahead of where Europe is now. We want to support those types of needs for large-scale deployments. Vantage is bringing a unique opportunity to Europe for our customers since there is not a large amount of wholesale product in country today. CAPRE: What is the biggest opportunity on Vantage’s plate?…
