NoVa Insiders Talk State of the Market in CAPRE Webinar: “We Haven’t Stopped At All”

NEW YORK, NY -- On June 24, CAPRE hosted an in-depth webinar and video presentation about the Ashburn and Mid-Atlantic digital infrastructure industry’s response to COVID-19 and the outlook for development, investment and capital raising over the duration of 2020. The webinar featured leading speakers from Dominion Energy, Sabey Data Centers, and the Economic Development offices of both Stafford County & Loudoun County in Virginia. Early in the webinar, Dominion Energy’s Director of Customer Solutions & Strategic Partnerships, Stan Blackwell set the tone with a survey of activity on the ground. “The Ashburn area and Prince William Areas are booming in terms of our service territory,” shared Blackwell. “We’re seeing unprecedented growth, from my perspective, we’re seeing an acceleration in our area. It’s just booming.” According to Blackwell, that necessitates even more effort to streamline their construction, which has been a key challenge due to the obvious implications of the COVID-19 pandemic.” Blackwell noted that Dominion connected 18 new data centers in 2018 and 26 in 2019 - a record year.  In the face of COVID-19, he says Dominion is on track to have as many new data center connections this year as in 2019.
