Garry Connolly Talks the Why of Data: Why is It Everything?

DUBLIN, IRELAND — CapRE’s Third Annual Ireland and Emerging European Markets Data Center Summit kicked off yesterday with remarks by Garry Connolly, Chairman at GconnTec & President, Host in Ireland & Cochair of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) Awareness Co. who kicked off his remarks with some broad remarks about data — the why and where of it all, seguéing into one of the major challenges facing the Irish data center industry. “As I have said earlier, there are so many people speaking today, really good people who are spending an awful lot of money on Ireland. And I wang to go through the 5 W’s and 1 H [of data centers], and the reason why is because I really want to address the big W in the middle. Why is data becoming more important of an asset than we’ve ever seen before?” he asked. “Why is it not just becoming an important asset, but becoming everything? And everywhere?
