Organizer's Welcome Letter
Welcome, From The Organizers
July 15, 2019
It has been a busy yet exciting time for CAPRE’s International Data Center Series. We continue to expand and grow in new markets where our competitors have not gone and cover new areas that are at times, overlooked. This year, we are excited to bring you a new event: Women of Mission Critical: Awareness, Leadership, Mentoring.
Similar to other high-tech sectors, the data center field has been no exception to gender disparity. Observed by simply attending industry events around the globe or partaking in a data center tour, more women need to be part of this workforce and have those opportunities available to them. With surveys indicating that only 12 percent believe there is an adequate number of skilled and qualified data center consultants, the skills shortage concern needs to be prioritized.
This year and those to follow, CAPRE’s strategic focus is to widen the talent pool and make the data center industry more accessible. We plan to accomplish this goal by hosting women-focused events and ensuring the conversations continue thereafter. Our inaugural event will be taking place on September 9, 2019 at Stone Tower Winery in Leesburg, Virginia, as a prelude to our anchor event, The Washington, D.C. & Mid-Atlantic Data Center & Cloud Infrastructure Summit, on September 10. Presentations and discussions will be led by industry experts and cover topics around leadership, diversity, skills and talent, and how to navigate through the current environment.
We encourage all those interested in wanting to learn more about career advancement and opportunities in the industry, and those keen on addressing the skills shortage to attend.
