Legendary data center broker, Allen Tucker, announced his resignation from JLL in a LinkedIn post on July 8, 2019. Tucker has been a frequent speaker with CAPRE’s International Data Center Series.

HOBOKEN, NJ — CAPRE’s International Data Center Series has learned legendary data center broker, Allen Tucker, announced his resignation from Jones Lang LaSalle. In a LinkedIn post earlier today, Tucker said he’s resigning after 19 years with JLL, one of the largest commercial real estate brokers in the nation with a strong global footprint. The JLL data center team also includes prominent industry brokers such as Bo Bond, Conan Lee and Mark Bauer.

Tucker, a frequent speaker at CAPRE’s International Data Center Series events, has been instrumental in promoting the Greater Washington, D.C./Northern Virginia region as a premier site selection destination for developers and investors in the mission critical arena. In 2018, the Northern Virginia market was the most active in the U.S., accounting for more than 50% of data center absorption. The rate of growth in this region has fundamentally changed other markets in the U.S. In addition, the region has become one of the most active data center markets globally with significant hyperscale and colocation projects underway, or about to be delivered, many by international providers.

In the LinkedIn post published in the mid-afternoon hours of July 8, Tucker said he plans to take time to determine next steps in his career, noting that the industry “requires more consulting services and partnerships than the past.”

Indeed, growth of massive hyperscale data centers has significantly changed the playing field in the data center arena, dominated by traditional colocation providers only a few years ago.

In his announcement, Tucker said he plans to share a new book, as well.
