ANEXIO’s Tony Pompliano: More and More Customers Don’t Need 100% Availability

NORTH CHARLESTON, SOUTH CAROLINA – CapRE’s 2018 Southeast Data Center Spring Update, kicked off with a panel discussion titled Carolinas Data Center Market 360: An Overview of Regional Development, Site Selection Advantages and Leasing Trends. After the quartet of panelists had discussed various aspects of the Carolinas, from power to cooling to the climate to tax breaks, a member of the audience rose their hand to ask a bread-and-butter question. “Do you carry any particular coverage for unanticipated outages and do you negotiate that coverage on a per-client basis?” asked the inquisitive attendee. After Moderator Michael Fuhrman, Chief Product Officer for Flexential chose to tackle this question head-on, panelist  Tony Pompliano, CEO for ANEXIO offered a surprising and informative take on this seemingly standard question. “There’s an interesting dynamic that’s going on, with the decentralization of networks,” began Pompliano. “We are, more and more, seeing customers who get very diverse and redundant architectures, where the 100% availability of power is not something that they actually want to pay for. So they’ll come into a data center and say, When was the last time that the commercial power here was out? And so we may proudly beat our chests and say, Never!
